WI Reads is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing awareness, understanding, and implementation of the evidence-based literacy practices and the Science of Reading.

Lauren is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater where she trains pre-service and in-service teachers to implement the science of reading. She previously served as a special educator, reading teacher, and reading specialist. Lauren has served on the University of Wisconsin Foundations of Reading Test (FoRT committee for three years and participated in the first ever higher education cohort of Launguage Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling.

For almost 5 years, WI Reads has hosted and provided scholarships for CERI Accredited Independent Teacher Training - empowering K-12 educators, instructional leaders, and higher education faculty with high quality science of reading training aligned with the IDA Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading. Wisconsin’s Right to Read Act - 2023 Act 20 requires this training for all K-3 educators, principals, reading specialists, and higher education faculty.
